That’s when I got involved. [one_third] Lares Technologies is a young company that is involved with large perimeter security systems. They had developed a new technology that greatly increases the accuracy of motion detection while minimizing the chances for false alarms. They planned to showcase their new technology by demonstrating it at an upcoming industry event. They had an exciting innovation that could be a cost-effective solution to an expensive problem. Their only problem was that they didn’t have a “pretty” user interface for their groundbreaking technology. [/one_third] [one_third] That’s when I was given the assignment to essentially put an attractive “skin” on what they had invented. I came up with a user interface that was based on existing mobile device UI elements. This helped in 2 ways: It used existing UI elements that most people were familiar with from using smartphones, and it also made it easy to make responsive across all devices. The finished product was a map/pin-based geotargeted system that used each map marker as a camera’s location. Users would click on an alarm or camera to open a dialogue box that displayed more info. (similar to Google Maps). [/one_third] [one_third_last] This was a fun project, because I got a chance to design something that was neither mobile nor web for a change. What we created was just a prototype for the event – a mock-up of the finished product that was purely used for a demonstration. However, Lares Technologies was very pleased with it, and will most likely use the UI that I created in the finished product. In addition to the UI for their system, I also created a website, logo, and some print collateral, to help establish this young company’s legitimacy. [/one_third_last]
